TLDR; Studied Architecture, started to learn programming, now I'm banging the keyboard with my head.
I studied architecture, and I’ve been working in different branches of construction since the early 2000s, HTML and CSS was something I liked, I used Wordpress for my personal website and in my university years I used a little bit of Macromedia Flash, but I never had that thinking process to develop something new, most of it was copy and paste code.
After the one big event of 2020 I decided really to follow a different path, I'm married I have kids, I had just about 4hrs per week free to spend for learning.
CS50's Introduction to Computer Science, was the first course I took, and it melted my brain, I took a lot of time, but I finished it and I felt like a different person, I could read documentation, understand a lot more of the functionality of computers and of course I could create things.
In summer of 2020 started to watch the freecodecamp lessons on youtube, and in 2021 started learning threejs, since 3d was one of my interest, from the discover threejs website. I learned new things, some basics were still missing, I needed to know more about the tools offered by JavaScript.
In Septemeber 2022 I took the Zero to Mastery JavaScript Web Projects Course, to learn more basic JavaScript, and I went really well I learned a lot of basic methods and how much work takes to create of simple applications.
Fast forward now I finish this personal web project, after banging my head against the wall countless times. It felt great the first hour after finishing it, then all the rookie mistakes made came to life.
I love the feeling of solving tiny problems, and creating something people can use, even at this small scale.
More about me and my other work on my Architecture Portfolio.
